Dog Bones or Kibble
for Adult Danes
4     cups whole wheat flour,  plus or minus
2     unpeeled sweet potatoes, diced, cooked and coarsely mashed
1     14 oz can pink salmon, including juice and bones
1     can sardines in oil
1     large egg
1/4  cup dried parsley
1     cup finely grated cheddar cheese or 1 cup cottage cheese
1     tsp sea salt

Combine all ingredients to form a thick paste, adding more
flour if needed.   Roll out mixture on a floured board to about
1/4 inch thick.  Place rolled dough on parchment paper and
move to cookie sheet. Cut into desired shape/sizes using
roller-style pizza cutter.  You do not need to separate the pieces.
Bake in slow oven at 275 degrees for about 1 hour.  Remove
from oven and break cooked dough  into pieces along cut lines,
turning upside down as you break apart.  Return pieces to oven,
turn oven off, and leave to dry 4-6 hours or overnight.  Store in
airtight container.

You can also use a dog bone cookie cutter to cut in shapes
before baking.  Re-roll leftover mixture and cut out more until
dough is gone.

If your dog is sensitive to wheat, you can use oat flour or spelt
flour in place of the whole wheat flour.
Be sure to consult your veterinarian
before switching your dog to a
homemade diet, and if you are
feeding more than 25% (total intake)
of any homemade diet, always
supplement with a good quality
canine multi-vitamin.
